Meet Hillary Stevens

I was born and raised in the rugged mountains of Western Montana, closer to Canada than any major city. Being from Montana means never being afraid to try something you don’t know much about, to trust your neighbor, and to never fear hard work because it only makes you stronger.

The lessons I learned from growing up in rural Montana came with me when I moved to Boone, NC in 2013 to attend Appalachian State University. This is where I fell in love with North Carolina and where I learned about so much, not only in school but in life. After four years, I graduated in 2017 with a BS in International Politics, a minor in Communications and an itch to experience more of the world. With this in mind, I promptly moved to Australia upon graduating to pursue a marketing internship with a travel company located in Sydney. After about three months, my internship ended and I became the event coordinator for a brewery called the Lord Nelson. Experiencing the charm of the Lord Nelson, Sydney and Australia as a whole was an unforgettable experience that allowed me time and space to grow not just personally but professionally as well.

Eventually, my visa expired and it was time to return back to the States. Knowing I wanted to return to North Carolina, I accepted an event coordinator position with a Winston-Salem brewery called Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Company. It was here where my talents truly started to blossom. By working with a small start up company, the mindset of the team was “all hands on deck” which is a phrase I’m familiar with and fond of. Things under my umbrella included social media marketing strategies (we boosted our following by over 300%), to event planning for outdoor concerts (some with thousands of people in attendance), to starting a can labeling program where I was the sole designer. Since then, I have designed nearly every label to go out of their doors. I’m forever thankful that this establishment gave me the reigns and allowed me to take risks and to trust my creative instincts in any project I took on.

During Covid, there weren’t as many events to plan, as you could imagine, so I moved on to a more corporate setting. In this transition I joined a team with Market America, a product brokerage company based out of Greensboro, NC. Here, I took my talents that I developed at Fiddlin’ Fish, and polished them up for larger projects that I began taking on in the role. I was hired as an Events Presentations Producer, meaning I help the highest executives (mainly the CEO, SEVP, and VP of Sales) create and manage their presentations and speeches for all company events. This means managing everything from developing the story line to creating a matching visual that resonated with the audience they were speaking to and ensuring proper execution. In addition, my team and I brainstorm, create and oversee all merchandising and marketing plans for the company’s largest market base. With that in mind, digital marketing and design is a heavy component of what we do. I continue to create landing pages, emails, advertisements and UI design for the company’s largest direct-to-distributor website.

Now, all my experience together has led me to begin freelancing for small start ups as a branding advisor and designer. As you can imagine, this role covers anything my clients need from website design, to full brand identity design and beyond. I’m looking forward to continuing to make an impact with my talents in my next career move, whether that’s a new role or a creative side project.

Thanks for making it this far. That’s a start on where I’ve been and some projects I’ve worked on. Feel free to check out more of my work at the button below, or get in touch with me if you’d like to speak about potential opportunities.
